Heaven on Earth

I saw the following YouTube video - The Indian Problem - in a group called ‘Borneo Indians United’ of which I am a member.

I then made a comment saying that many smart children leave school as illiterates. I went on to say that I have taught more than 70 such children since 2004.

A Mr. Anoop Kumar who is also a member replied to my comment and part of his comment is as follows:

“If we understand our religion or our beliefs, we shall attain the eventual good of religions, this is to bring about spiritualism in mankind. Only then, will we be able to look through people, understand people and create a platform for accepting and overcoming anothers weakness…. We can’t change the world so let’s start with ourselves and attain spiritualism, the essence of religion. …”
Immediately following the above comments, 3 members had put up the 'Thumbs up' sign.

From what I understand from the above, we should not help others until we have ourselves attained some 'Spiritualism'.

Is this why the Indians in Malaysia are far behind the others as narrated by the Chinese lady in the video clip. It has taken her great courage to come up with this video and instead of discussing this to see how we can help we are told to help ourselves first.

What I believe Thiruvalluvar had said in the Thirukural is that there are many things you can attain on earth that you cannot find in Heaven.

There may be many good things in Heaven – No hunger, no disease, Joyfulness, Bliss etc.

However, you cannot get the joy of seeing the happiness on the face of a hungry person whom you have just fed. You will not be able to see the joy in the face of parents of kids who were unable to read and who have now learned to read through your efforts. These are things you can never experience in Heaven and we have people who discourage us from trying to eradicate or at least reduce Illiteracy.
