  " கண்ணால் பார்ப்பதும் பொய் , காதால் கேட்பதும் பொய் , தீர விசாரிப்பதே மெய் ." Transliteration: Kannal parpathum poi, kaadhal keipadhum poi; theera visaripadhey mei. Meaning:   Kannal parpathum poi: What you see with your eyes can be false.   Kaadhal keipadhum poi: What you hear with your ears can be false.   Theera visaripadhey mei: Investigating thoroughly (to find the truth) is the only truth.

  Dear readers, It has now been more than three years since I first lodged a formal complaint with the Lembaga Juruukur Sabah (LJS) on 15 December 2022 regarding the allegedly fabricated “ as-built” survey plans for Taman Puncak Vistana (Vistana Heights Phase 1), Iramanis. The plans were submitted by the licensed survey firm Jurukur Terra Firma and accepted by Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK). The core issue remains the unexplained and significant discrepancy between the actual road level and my son Faisal’s house platform — a problem that should have been easily resolved with proper survey data.

  Civil servants who misuse public funds must face consequences. When I raised legitimate concerns about unresolved safety issues in Vistana Heights with the chairman of the Sabah Lands and Surveys Department (JTU), I was met not with answers but with a directive to take legal action against the department. This response is both absurd and troubling. It implies that I, a taxpayer, should spend my own money to sue JTU, while JTU—funded by my taxes—would use those same public funds to defend itself. This is a clear misuse of taxpayer money, creating a perverse cycle where citizens are pitted against their own resources. Worse still, these civil servants, upon retirement, will draw pensions—again funded by taxpayers—despite such failures in accountability. There must be deterrents to prevent public officials from deflecting legitimate grievances into costly legal battles, which only burden citizens further while shielding systemic inefficiencies.

  At the meeting with DBKK together with the surveyor and architect the Director General, Sr. Lifred Wong asked the surveyor to do a survey of the platform and road heights at no 9 Vistana Heights. Since then, I have requested for the survey and have yet to receive it. As mentioned earlier, Sr. Lifred Wong tried to mislead those present with figures that were not in the original as-built drawing.  LINK

In Tamil, we say, "Muzhu Poosanikkaayaich Sotrukkul Maraikkirargal!" which translates to "Trying to hide a whole pumpkin in a plate of rice!" ( முழு பூசணிக்காயை சோத்திலே மறைக்க முடியாது ). This means attempting a scandal, scam, or mischief and covering it with flimsy excuses. That’s exactly what unfolded at the DBKK meeting on June 11, 2025.
