Enforcement Agency Integrity Department (EAIC) and Integrity Department Sabah

EAIC is for complaints about Federal Agencies. In Sabah it’s equivalent is Sabah Integrity department.

The Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) is actively working to address integrity issues within enforcement agencies. This includes investigating misconduct, even targeting department heads who enable such issues. The EAIC is also exploring the use of artificial intelligence to assess public perception of corruption and formulate action plans.

The EAIC's efforts are aimed at strengthening public confidence in enforcement agencies by ensuring integrity and accountability.

Investigations are conducted jointly, comprehensively, and openly to ensure transparency and accountability, according to the EAIC.

The EAIC views integrity violations as a serious issue that can lead to significant financial losses for the government.

In November 2024, Tan Sri Dr Ismail Bakar, stated that the apparent rise in corruption and integrity-related cases may not necessarily signal a deterioration in practices, but rather reflects the government’s more aggressive approach to rooting out misconduct at all levels.

He said, integrity issues don't always involve corruption. Even abuse of power is considered a poor integrity practice. LINK

The former chairman of EAIC, Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan said, corruption or abuse of authority should not be tolerated. A sustainable culture of integrity must be built within the organization. You don’t go to office and shirk your responsibility, clocking in and taking a break, that’s an integrity issue. As a civil servant, we mustn’t do that. Give your best to the service.

He added, the concept of ‘public hanging’ should be introduced, especially when any government servant is involved and is found guilty, and that he or she is dismissed from service.

He cautioned that there should not be any compromise when it comes to misconduct for government servants. LINK
