New Emergency Rescue System

A Daily Express article dated August 25, 2025 discusses the introduction of a new emergency rescue system, set to launch before the end of 2025. LINK

Below are key details from the article, followed by my observations:

A new emergency rescue system to be implemented before the year ends will ensure no more repeat of the 2021 Sabah tragedy where a family of four was burnt to death while waiting to be rescued by Bomba.

It would initially be used by the Bomba, police and ambulance services.

Called the Next Gen 999, it uses GPS to pinpoint the exact source of an emergency and would be good for the next 10 years, said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

However, the effectiveness of this system is questionable if emergency vehicles cannot access critical areas, such as driveways. Two videos recorded on August 25, 2025, the same day as the newspaper report, highlight a homeowner at Vistana Heights who purchased a property earlier this year but cannot move in due to an inaccessible driveway.

The house was designed with a platform height of 100 feet, but the actual on-site height is 105.47 feet. To address this, a portion of adjacent open space was annexed—without other homeowners’ consent—to construct a driveway. Despite this, the driveway remains too steep for vehicle access.

This raises concerns about how the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) issued the occupancy certificate for the Vistana Heights project.

Note that the back wheel is lifted off the ground.

Note that the front wheel is spinning as in the case of the neighbour's house as below.

The above was after the driveway was extended onto the access road by about two feet.
