Transparency and accountability of DBKK
This is a recent photo of the land that collapsed behind
house D18 (Previously numbered S17 & S18).
The Director General’s dismissal during the May 5 and June 11, 2025, meetings, without providing evidence or a formal response, raises questions about transparency and accountability.
Writing to him twice without receiving a written reply is concerning, especially given DBKK’s public service mandate. The absence of a formal response could suggest procedural lapses or an unwillingness to engage with public inquiries, which contradicts DBKK’s stated commitment to transparency.
His claim implies negligence by officers who approved the 2018 plan. If no retaining wall was mandated despite known landslide risks in the area, this could indicate a flaw in the approval process.
The cracks behind house no. 5 and their frequent patching suggest a structural or geological issue that DBKK should investigate. The DG’s failure to address this concern is problematic.
The crack behind house no 5.
The landslides behind houses D17 to D18, severe enough to require redesigning four semi-detached houses into two detached ones, underscore the area’s vulnerability. DBKK’s Planning and Development Sector is responsible for ensuring that development plans account for such risks. His dismissal of my concerns without evidence of an investigation into the root causes of cracks or landslides appears inconsistent with DBKK’s mission to prioritize public safety.
House D17 which was formerly numbered S1 & S2
DBKK is tasked with urban planning, environmental protection, and infrastructure maintenance, all of which are relevant to preventing landslides and addressing structural issues.
Did someone say I should write to the Mayor, YBhg. Dato’ Sri Dr. Haji Sabin Samitah?
