Why does History Repeat
Lions Club scandal
In 2017 my complaints to the Lions Club of Kota Kinabalu Host were not taken seriously. The club maintained 3 secret bank accounts into which funds were deposited and misused. Money meant for the poor and needy was diverted by wealthy members.
A simple solution would have been to declare that such acts would cease and to close those accounts. Instead, the members chose to expel me from the club. I approached senior members, but none were willing to take the bull by the horns. They mistakenly believed that once expelled, I could not act against the club. To cut the story short, ROS acted on my complaint and deregistered the club for over a year.

Copies are available from my house at RM10.00 each. The book is now out of print.
Sink holes and land slips
In 2013, I defended a defamation case brought by a Public Listed Company after I wrote about sewerage pipes laid incorrectly. I warned that sinkholes would form. Had an engineer paid attention, the landslip on the Kiulu–Ranau highway could have been avoided. The landslip was undeniably due to faulty pipe laying. Read more at LINK
Sabah Indian Chamber of Commerce
For over six years, I lodged complaints to the Sabah Indian Chamber of Commerce. The only resolution was to report to ROS, which eventually acted. I was then asked to resign from the chamber.
Vistana Heights Dispute
Then came my ongoing issues with Vistana Heights.
In 2021, I formally requested the developer of Vistana Heights, Ira Manis, to buy back Unit S9 at market price. They refused. The house platform level was not built according to the development plan, and the as-built survey plan was fabricated. In 2022 and 2023, I asked the architect to intervene. He tried but failed. What should have been a straightforward resolution has now escalated into a court case. Shockingly, four defendants — including a statutory body — have targeted me personally with fabricated claims in their affidavits, even though I am not the original plaintiff.
Selangor Education Director
The latest matter involves the Selangor Education Director and the Integrity Department.
A teacher at SK Kuchai, Puchong attempted to remove a caveat on a property in Klang and lost. The High Court of Shah Alam ordered her to pay RM3,000 in costs, which remain unpaid after three years. I wrote to the Director, pointing out this breach of the Piagam Pelanggan. Instead of addressing the misconduct of a government servant who ignored a court order, the department twisted the issue into a bankruptcy order.
Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA)
The Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) was enacted to protect Malaysians from misuse of personal information. It was never intended as a convenient excuse for government agencies to avoid answering legitimate questions. Yet, in practice, agencies often hide behind PDPA to block even the most basic factual confirmations.

KTMB Incident
The recent KTMB incident illustrates how well-intentioned policies fail at implementation. My wife and my Identity Cards were presented at the counter, yet staff issued full-fare tickets instead of applying the 50% Warga Emas concession.

If the government is sincere about supporting B40 elderly citizens, its systems must automatically flag MyKad details for seniors and apply the discount. Rural elders who are not tech-savvy cannot be expected to navigate registration hurdles or explicitly request concessions. Relying on busy or untrained staff only repeats the cycle of exclusion. True help requires seamless systems that honour policy in practice, not just on paper.
I hope YB Anwar will direct his officers to look into this matter before the General Elections.
